The Orphan's Stable (2003) - UBC University Singers

The boy was an orphan in the hills, all alone,

The last war had taken his family, his home,

Now a stable his refuge, a manger his bed,

A warm sheepskin cover and hay for his head.

Through tears in his sleep came a vision, a light,

Of a donkey, a man and a woman with child,

They came to his stable, rejected alone,

Asking for shelter in his stable, his home.

Angels were singing, the star showed the way,

For the Magi with gifts for the King born this day!

The boy’s gift was humble, yet so easy to give,

All he had in the world was the place where he lived.

The orphan awoke at the first light of day,

But where was the Christ Child asleep on the hay,

He was told of the story of Christmas gone by,

When he shared his soft manger,

When he shared his small stable...

In a dream… with the Child.
